PinTAG™️ cryogenic labels have a unique, patent-pending, design that allows them to be affixed onto the side and bottom of slim profile, 1.0 ml, 1.4 ml, and 2.0 ml high-throughput/automated sample storage tubes such as Matrix™️, Simport®️ T100-20, LVL technologies LI, and LX 1000, and others. They are designed to withstand ultra-low temperature conditions, down to –196°C (-321°F), making them suitable for cryogenic and laboratory freezer storage, as well as transportation on dry ice.

These cryo labels can be affixed onto Matrix tubes that do not have an inherent barcode or where the pre-established information needs to be updated and will fit nicely in their latch racks (48 and 96-well arrays). This is an advantageous option where specific, user-defined barcodes (with human-readable information) need to be used to identify individual tubes. They are fully compatible with all sample storage tube readers, scanners, and tracking software, as well as automated/robotic liquid handling systems. These labels provide the user with an economical alternative to pre-barcoded vials, allowing them to define and encode their own information, replace damaged or unreadable barcodes, and overwrite or redefine inherent barcodes. These labels for slim profile tubes afford maximum flexibility in high-throughput applications that demand (re)labeling, such as clinical trials, diagnostics, biobanking, epidemiological studies, and kit manufacturing.

PinTAG labels are thermal-transfer printable with most common thermal-transfer printers. Using barcoding software, the user can easily encode, print (1D/linear, 2D barcodes), and then affix the labels onto the tubes for maximum flexibility and control of information.

Benefits:

  • Simultaneously label the side and bottom of slim profile Matrix tubes (1.0 ml, 1.4 ml, and 2.0 ml) for cryogenic storage (–196°C)
  • Compatible with automated high-throughput sample storage and handling systems
  • Allows slim profile tubes to be re-labeled easily with barcodes and human-readable information
  • Encode identical or custom information onto replicate Matrix tubes without the need for pre-engraved vials

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, PinTAG™ labels are thermal-transfer printable and require a ribbon to be printed. These labels require an RR-class ribbon of the same width or larger to achieve a proper printout.

No, PinTAG labels are best applied at room temperature. For labeling already frozen vials and tubes, we recommend CryoSTUCK® labels, a line of cryogenic labels specially designed for that purpose.

Yes, PinTAG’s unique design allows you to simultaneously label the side and bottom of slim profile tubes with barcodes and human-readable text, in case manual handling is necessary.

Our PinTAG labels can be affixed on 1.0 ml, 1.4 ml, and 2.0 ml slim profile tubes. For other tube sizes, please contact our technical support team, and we will be happy to help customize a labeling solution that’s right for you.

No, PinTAG labels are meant to be printed using a thermal-transfer printer with a ribbon. Click here to view our selection of thermal-transfer printers. You can also consult our printer buying guide or contact our technical support team who will be glad to help you find the right one.

You can print both 1D and 2D barcodes on these labels. For efficiency and visability, a 2D barcode can be printed on the circular part of the label to identify the tube bottom, while the rectangular partf the label can be printed with either a 1D or 2D barcode and will identify the side of the vials.

the reverse printing option is not available in your software set the color of the barcode to white, enable a border on the barcode, and set the fill to black. Ensure you adjust the border-spacing as necessary to cover the quiet zone.

Yes, PinTAG labels offer excellent accessibity as the liners are designed with a back slit making them easy to peel.

No, PinTAG labels have a permanent adhesive that is difficult to remove.

Yes, PinTAG labels provide users with full control over the encoded barcodes, allowing the specimen to be replicated or aliquoted to a new set of tubes using the identical or custom data to encode the receiving vials.

Yes, PinTAG labels work with Matrix, Simport, and other slim profile storage tubes for high-throughput automated storage and retrieval systems. This includes automated readers/scanners, tracking software, and robotic liquid handling systems.

No, PinTAG labels are not compatible with automated print and apply systems. For more details, please consult our technical support team.

Yes, our PinTAG labels will resist short-term spraying and wiping with various alcohols, as well as common surface sanitizing wipes.

Barcoding or label design software can be used to create templates that conform to your label’s size. You can then insert design elements within the template for easy printing. Our technical support team can provide you with a template upon request.

Yes, we can provide our PinTAG cryo labels preprinted with variable or serialized information and barcodes from a database. Learn more about our custom printing options.
