Description

XyliTUFF™ – Xylene and Chemical-Resistant Labels

XAL-class labels offer a reliable solution for labeling microscope slides in diagnostic and research laboratories. They are resistant to common solvents such as xylene, xylene substitutes, acetone, toluene, ethanol, and other harsh chemicals frequently used in histology/cytology laboratories. Their permanent adhesive provides exceptional durability and resistance to histological processes including dewaxing, H&E staining, and antigen retrieval procedures under high/low pH buffer conditions.

The label material does not absorb stains during H&E or other common histological staining protocols, ensuring that printed information remains clean and unaffected. These labels are compatible with most thermal-transfer printers, and when used with XAR-class ink ribbons, they produce high-quality printed text and barcodes that remain legible even after exposure to chemicals and intense processes. To ensure optimal performance, avoid excessive contact of the adhesive.

 Benefits:

  • Excellent stain resistance, ideal for microscope slides destined to histology procedures
  • Resistant to a wide range of chemicals and solvents
  • Permanent adhesive ensures reliable attachment without peeling or detachment
  • High-quality and long-lasting printouts that withstand intense lab procedures

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, XyliTUFF labels are thermal-transfer printable and require an ink ribbon to be printed. To achieve the proper printout, these labels require a xylene and solvent-resistant XAR-class ink ribbon of the same width or larger.

XyliTUFF labels are designed for maximal resistance against the gamut of environmental conditions encountered during common histological (microscope) slide preparation, namely xylene, ethanol series, xylene substitutes, histology stains, high temperature (70°C) treatments and antigen retrieval protocols.

Yes, these labels are tested and shown to be resistant to boiling in low and high pH buffers used in typical antigen retrieval protocols.

For the best performance of the adhesive against prolonged xylene immersion and antigen retrieval protocols, place the label completely over the frosted or color part of the glass slide. Also, avoid excessive contact with the adhesive prior to affixing.

XAL label material does not absorb stains during H&E or other common histological staining procedures. The printed text and barcodes remain clearly legible throughout the process.

Printed XAL label are rated to withstand up to 72 hours of continuous immersion in xylene. Thorough testing under user’s conditions is recommended.

Yes, our XyliTUFF labels are compatible with automated processors. For more information, consult our technical support team.

No, XyliTUFF labels have a permanent chemical-resistant adhesive that is not made for easy removal. For removable chemical-resistant solutions, click here.

No, XyliTUFF do not require any additional lamination in order to withstand harsh protocols.

No, XyliTUFF is not offered in color. For color, chemical-resistant labels, see here.

Barcoding or label design software can be used to create templates that conform to the size of your label. You can then insert design elements within the template for easy printing.
