Radio frequency identification (RFID) labels designed specifically for the identification of microplates, Petri dishes, cell culture plates, high-throughput PCR plates, as well as skirted and semi-skirted high- and low-profile qPCR plates. These durable thermal-transfer printable labels have an integrated, flexible UHF (Class 1, Gen 2) inlay that allows them to conform to curved surfaces and be scanned/read at 360° without the need to be in direct line of sight. Suitable for real-time tracking and inventory of multiple plates, our plate RFID labels are perfect for use in high-throughput screening. RFID-PlateTAG™ labels can also be integrated with electronic witnessing systems, are compatible with automated liquid handlers, and be used in IVF facilities to help prevent errors and sample mix-ups.
* Read range can vary according to the RFID reader being used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, RFID-PlateTAG™ labels are thermal-transfer printable and require a ribbon to be printed. To achieve the proper printout, these labels require a RR-class ribbon of the same width or larger.

No, RFID-PlateTAG labels will withstand deep-freeze conditions (-80°C), but are not recommended for cryogenic environments. For Cryogenic thermal-transfer labels, we suggest our NitroTAG® labels.

Yes, RFID-PlateTAG labels can withstand temperatures as high as +110°C, making them suitable for use during PCR reactions, in all common thermocyclers.

Yes, certain models of non-skirted plates have a flat portion on the topside large enough to accommodate PlateTAG labels.

No, these labels are designed specifically for microplates and dishes. For identifying vials, tubes, and boxes with RFID, we recommend our CryoRFID™ labels.

No, RFID-PlateTAG labels are coated with a permanent adhesive, that is not made for easy removal. For removable microplate labels we suggest our AMA-class.

No, these labels are not currently available in color. They can however be custom produced in color, for more information contact our technical support team.

Yes, a UHF RFID printer is required to accurately encode these labels when printing. We suggest the Zebra ZD500R RFID thermal-transfer printer.

Yes, specialized software is required to properly encode your labels. The two pieces of software we would recommend are BarTender Pro and ZebraDesigner3 Pro.

No, PlateTAG labels require a special liner to work with automated systems. For more information, contact our technical support team.

Barcoding or label design software can be used to create templates that conform to the size of your label. You can then insert design elements within the template, for easy printing.

Yes, we can provide our RFID-PlateTAG labels preprinted with full-color graphics and logos, as well as variable or serialized information from a database. Learn more about our custom printing options.

Yes, RFID-PlateTAG™ contain read-write UHF RFID chips. Thus, you can rewrite the EPC memory bank up to 100,000 times if the permalock feature is not active.
