The label should wrap around and overlap onto itself for proper adhesion.
Description
CryoSTUCK® – Cryogenic Thermal-Transfer Labels for Frozen Tubes & Vials
- The labels can adhere quickly to already frozen vials, tubes*, and cryo storage boxes (no thawing required)
- Ideal for long-term storage in cryogenic conditions (-196°C/-321°F)
- Printable with all common thermal-transfer printers
- Resistant to immersion in heated water baths
These CryoSTUCK labels are specially designed to be applied directly and will efficiently adhere onto frozen (-80°C/-112°F) plastic and glass cryo vials and tubes. Furthermore, these labels are provided with a clear over-laminate that protects the printout. These cryogenic labels for frozen surfaces are suitable for long-term storage in liquid and vapor phase liquid nitrogen (-196°C/-321°F), ultra-low temperature freezers (-80°C/-112°F), and dry ice transportation. They can also withstand temperatures up to +100°C (+212°F) in wet and dry environments, which also includes immersion in a 37°C water bath for sample and reagent thawing and incubation, and as well as in a 56°C water bath for specimen inactivation. These thermal-transfer cryo labels are intended for bio-banking, bio-repositories, research organizations, biopharmaceutical companies, hospitals, biotechnology and cancer research centers, molecular diagnostic laboratories, and any facility where the frozen sample or reagent identification is needed.
They can be printed with all common thermal-transfer printer brands to obtain a sharp, smudge-proof printout resistant to most standard laboratory alcohols. They can also be written on with our cryo-markers. On vials and tubes, it is recommended that these CryoSTUCK labels are applied with an overlap of at least 0.45” to ensure proper adherence to the frozen surface.
* Prior testing of these labels on the end user’s vials/tubes is strongly recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, thermal CryoSTUCK® labels require a thermal-transfer ink ribbon to achieve the proper printout. These labels require an RR-class ink ribbon of the same width or larger that is suitable for the thermal-transfer printer being used.
Yes, our unique CryoSTUCK labels are now available in sheet format for printing with laser printers. For our Laser CryoSTUCK labels, click here.
Yes, CryoSTUCK labels have been specially designed for the purpose of labeling already frozen vials and tubes. These cryogenic labels can be applied at -80°C/-112°F, eliminating the need to thaw valuable samples.
Yes, CryoSTUCK labels can be used to label samples prior to storing them in low-temperature freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks.
No, CryoSTUCK labels have an extra-permanent adhesive that is not made for easy removal. For removable cryogenic solutions, see here.
Please consult our handy sizing guide, where you will find recommendations for the most common vial/tube sizes.
Barcoding and label design software can be used to create templates that conform to the size of your label. You can then insert design elements within the template for easy printing.
No, we do not recommend our standard CryoSTUCK labels for this purpose. To cover-up existing labels, our blackout CryoSTUCK labels will conceal pre-existing information, while our clear CryoSTUCK labels can be applied over an existing label, acting as a laminate to reinforce it.
No, the vials can be stored in liquid nitrogen (-196°C/-321°F) or ultra-low temperature freezers (-80°C/-112°F) immediately following label application, requiring no cure time.
Yes, these CryoSTUCK labels are resistant to immersion in 37°C and 56°C water baths for thawing, incubation, and inactivation of samples and reagents.
Yes, CryoSTUCK labels (L2FSA class labels) will resist elevated temperatures, up to +100°C (+212°F) in dry and wet environments. Thus, in addition to labeling your frozen tubes, you can also prepare samples for Western Blot and other procedures that require incubation in high heat.
For optimal adhesion, wipe away any visibly accumulated frost with a clean lint-free disposable wipe (e.g., KimWipe™). Apply the edge of the label first and press firmly to anchor it while avoiding excessive contact with the adhesive. If you have a wrap-around CryoSTUCK, apply the printable area first. Then press the label securely into position along the vial’s entire circumference. These thermal-transfer CryoSTUCK labels (L2FSA class labels) require an overlap of least 0.45″ to produce a secure adhesion to frozen vials and tubes.
Yes, RFID CryoSTUCK labels (RF3-L2FSA-class) are suitable for flat surfaces, including cryogenic storage carboard boxes, which do not require an overlap for proper adhesion.
