XyliTAG™—Xylene & Chemical Resistant Labels

  • Chemical-resistant and solvent-resistant labels specifically designed for printing with barcode printers.
  • Capable of withstanding direct contact with, and immersion in, harsh organic solvents such as xylene, ice-cold ethanol, isopropanol, methanol, formalin, toluene and acetone.
  • Withstand a number of solvents and chemicals used in other fields and in manufacturing processes, including dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), acrylonitrile (ACN), industrial thinner, brake fluid and 91 Octane gasoline (15 minutes).
  • Resist exposure to fixatives and stains, buffers, baking in ovens (up to +130ºC), boiling water and microwaves.
  • Must be printed using our xylene-resistant ribbons to ensure solvent-resistant impressions and print durability, without additional protection or lamination.

Coated with a permanent adhesive which resists solvents and chemicals, they remain permanently adherent, even when exposed to harsh chemicals and during long-term archival storage after processing. XyliTAG labels can be used in a multitude of histological staining processes, e.g. tissue fixation using alcohols, aldehydes, and ketones. They can be incubated in different alcohol mixtures during dehydration processes, infiltration, tissue embedding in paraffin, sectioning of embedded tissue with microtomes, and the mounting of sections on microscope slides. They withstand the cleaning of tissue sections with xylene and toluene as well as the staining and counterstaining with eosin, hematoxylin and other dyes.

Ideal for applications in the field of electron microscopy, pathology, cytology, histology, surgical and forensic pathology, immunology, analytical and organic chemistry, clinical research and teaching laboratories. Specifically designed to fit comfortably on microscope slides, tissue cassettes, pathological specimen storage containers and, containers or bottles which will come in contact with harsh solvents and chemicals.

Can be used within anatomic pathology specimen and surgical pathology specimen accession information systems as well as Laboratory Information Management Systems – LIMS, STARLIMS. They can be customized for integration into any barcode label printing software or database (SQL database) including Filemaker, BarTender, NiceLabel, Labelview, Labelmatrix, Codesoft, Zebra Designer, Loftware and many other software.

The labels are resistant to standard ethylene oxide gas sterilization, consisting of a 60-minute exposure to 759mg/L of ethylene oxide gas, at 55oC, and 40-80% relative humidity, followed by a two-hour aeration cycle. Resistant to continuous wiping and rubbing with surface sanitizing wipes such as Sani- Wipe™, Eco-Wipe™ and Eco-Wipe™ Duo.
